Many turtle species include insects as part of their feeding habits and can enjoy live mealworms as a treat. Live mealworms can also provide enrichment by giving turtles the opportunity to find, chase, and catch their food.
Because turtles vary considerably by species, size, and feeding habits, mealworms may not be appropriate for every turtle. Choose mealworms based on the needs of your individual species.
Size Tip:
Medium live mealworms can be a good option for smaller or younger turtles. Larger turtles may be able to handle Large or Giant mealworms. As a general guide, choose a mealworm that is not wider than your turtle’s head.
Offer mealworms alongside your pet’s regular balanced diet, with fresh water always available.
